Description: Join staff at Pacific Science Center to learn and practice science communication skills in a fun and interactive setting! Portal to the Public’s science communication training workshops prepare STEM professionals to have engaging and effective conversations about their work with public audiences. In this workshop, you will learn about why science communication is important and how it might be impactful for the work that you do. You will also practice a variety of skills that contribute to effective communication about complex topics. Finally, we will explore where and how you might participate in public outreach opportunities near you. Refreshments will be provided. After the workshop, feel free to explore the many examples of science communication presented within Pacific Science Center’s exhibits! Portal to the Public is a National Science Foundation-funded initiative that has helped many STEM-based professionals prepare for public events at science institutions and museums in Seattle and around the country.
